City Barbers strive to provide the best service possible to all of our customers. We hope that the experience you receive in dealing with us, and equipment we provide, reaches the standard that you expect of us.
However, we know sometimes something is not right, and a return may need to be requested. We will always try our best to rectify any problems in a swift and satisfactory manner, within the parameters that we will clearly set out as follows and as stated on our ‘Returns Policy’ page on our website.
We are unable to process a return or refund whilst goods are still in transit, so we ask for patience during the global pandemic until your goods arrive in the event you want to request a return. The pandemic has meant logistics companies may be delayed in getting goods to you in some cases.
All eCommerce orders within the UK are protected by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which is an extension of Directive 2011/83/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2011 on consumer rights.
You may be familiar with (or have heard of) the Distance Selling Regulations and the Sale of Goods Act. Both of these are now obsolete, replaced by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (from here onwards referred to as “the CRA”).
In short, the CRA explains the minimum standards that you should expect of any eCommerce purchase. With regards to returns, the Act details your “right to cancel” (which is essentially, your right to return items you have ordered because you have changed your mind, however, there are some exemptions).
The first thing that we have to make clear right away, is that there are products that are exempt from your right to cancel. The most common exemption are products that are sealed for health protection or hygiene reasons, which include protective face masks and other clothing that we sell on our site. The protective face masks we provide are medical products that are sealed for hygiene reasons, and once opened, they cannot be returned unless faulty under warranty (more information on this below). If unopened, untamptered with and in the original condition, then your right to cancel is unaffected.
For this reason, we ask you to be certain when ordering that the item and quantity being purchased is correct, and again once you have received the item please confirm it is correct before opening it. If you have any doubt at all, please contact us here! We have friendly, knowledgeable staff who will be more than happy to ensure the equipment you order is suitable for you, to avoid any problems or disappointment. We therefore provide as much information and support as possible so that you buy with confidence.
For all products that we sell, if they are still sealed, your right to cancel remains unaffected. Only when the item is unsealed does the right to cancel cease to apply.
In the following situations, the right to cancel is no longer available:
Additional non-returnable items:
The CRA states that you have 14 days from receiving the goods to notify us of your request to return any or all of the unopened products.
You must notify us in writing via our contact us page or by post. You must return them to us within 14 days of the request being accepted, and returns received after this period may be declined.
If you are returning an item because you have changed your mind or ordered the wrong item, then any return postage costs are your responsibility. We recommend using a recorded delivery service for returns, as refunds cannot be issued for items that we do not receive back. You must use the Return Material Authorization (RMA number) and returns address we will provide. Our products are sent from different fulfilment centres and must be returned to the same fulfilment centre the goods came from not from our postal address in London which does not accept packages. Without the provided RMA number, the fulfilment centre will not know which company and customer the return is for, so it is essential the details we provide are clrealy written on the package you return.
If you are returning an item because we sent the wrong item, it was damaged in transit, or is otherwise faulty (more information about faulty products follows), then we will cover the return cost and will discuss the options for you.
Because we offer a free delivery option on every order, any premium delivery charges cannot be refunded. If some, but not all, items are being returned then the delivery charge will not be refunded. In addition, our free delivery service is a premium international delivery service which does, in fact, cost us. If you want to return an item because you changed your mind or chose the wrong size, then we reserve the right to deduct our original delivery expenses from any refund amount.
Once again, we must stress that items that have been opened, even if unused, cannot be returned for hygiene reasons. However if you have opened the product, please contact us and we can discuss this with you and see if we can find another solution for you. If we accept a return on the basis of the item still being sealed and subsequently find that this is not the case, then we reserve the right to refuse a refund and will discuss this with you.
Our masks are covered by a 30-day manufacturers warranty. Any item found to be faulty within 30 days of receipt you have the “right to reject”. This means you are entitled to return the item for a replacement or refund as it is assumed the item was delivered with the fault already present.
Should a fault develop within this period we will repair or replace it for you as quickly as we can. If we cannot satisfactorily repair or replace the product within the warranty period, we can choose to issue a full refund.
Should a fault arise at any time during the initial 30 days, you must notify us in writing via email or post. You can email us using our Contact Page – please include your order number in all correspondence. We will resolve the issue for you as quickly as possible for you.
Outside of the warranty period, we will no longer be obligated to resolve the problem, but we will still do our best to help. Our priority is your health, so even if your warranty has expired, please let us know what has happened and we will see what we can do to help.
We will always try to provide you with your preferred resolution, though there may be times where that isn’t possible. However, we will work with you to get a satisfactory resolution as quickly as possible.
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days.
Any refund applied to your order will be repaid to your original funding source. This might be your PayPal balance, or a credit/debit card. If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again. Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Next, contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.
If you’ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund yet, please contact us by email using our Contact Page.
We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email using our Contact Form on our Contact Page and we will then provide you with an RMA (Returns Number) and the fulfilment centre’s address that the item(s) were originally sent from.
If the item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, you’ll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned item is received, a gift certificate will be mailed to you.
If the item wasn’t marked as a gift when purchased, or the gift giver had the order shipped to themselves to give to you later, we will send a refund to the gift giver and he will find out about your return.
To return your product, please do not send your purchase to our head office here in London. We do not accept packages at our office address, and returning to our office will delay a refund or replacement if applicable. City Barbers will organise for your return to be sent directly to the fulfilment centre from where it came from by sending you the appropriate address and returns number (RMA). City Barbers deal with different manufacturers and our orders are processed at one of several fulfilment centres around the world, so the address given for returns will vary.
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund.
Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you may vary.
If you are shipping an item of high value, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item without this.
If you have any questions about our returns policy (or anything else, for that matter) – please use our Contact Page and we will be happy address any queries. Please include your order number in all correspondence. We aim to resolve the issue as quickly as possible for you.
We have over 20 years of online retail experience providing products to happy customers all over the world. You can therefore buy from City Barbers with confidence, knowing that in the unlikely event of a problem arising with your order that it will be dealt with in prompt, professional manner.

City Barbers is one of the few independent eCommerce companies that host our website on our own dedicated servers located in a secure datacentre. Most websites on the Internet make use of cheaper shared-hosting services to save costs. Shared hosting companies are more likely to be vulnerable to attack, have more third party staff that have access to your data, or experience other issues such as page loading speed and latency. Robert Cope, the founder of City Barbers, has graduated with three IT related degree’s and is expert in Advanced Networking (at the level of satellite networks), server security, Linux server systems administration, content delivery networks (CDN), all of which ensure your data is secure and ensures speedy data transmission across the Internet.
While City Barbers takes responsibility for the security of your data on our systems, we do not take responsibility for any unauthorised access to your personal information or loss of or corruption of data caused by any computer virus or Trojan horse or via any system from an Internet Service Provider linking your computer system with ours.
If you have any reason to believe that there has been unauthorised use of your personal information, such as your password or credit card details, please notify us immediately.

We are glad to bring our customers great value and service. That’s why we provide free shipping from our fulfilment centres in Europe, Singapore, Mainland China by ePacket or EMS and in the USA by USPS.
We are proud to offer international shipping services. However, there are some locations we are unable to ship to. If you happen to be from one of those countries we will contact you.
We are not responsible for any custom fees once the items have shipped. By purchasing our products, you consent that one or more packages may be shipped to you and may get custom fees when they arrive in your country.
If you live in the UK or anywhere in the EU, national governments have waived import taxes on vital medical equipment including ventilators, coronavirus testing kits and protective clothing; this includes all protective face masks. if you live outside the UK or EU, please check with your countries’ rules on import duties for protective equipment before you purchase.
If you live in the UK and receive a notice that you have to pay a customs fee for one of our protective face masks, this is an error. We advise that you print off the following page on the government’s website and take it to your local delivery office along with the tracking number and your ID, and demand that the fee is waived. Royal Mail and Uk customs should not be charging anyone for any type of protective clothing and masks during the pandemic.
